Therefore I am: A day in the life of William K Huynh
I'm thinking that one day in the distant future, I will want to write an autobiography of myself. So, here's to that day: a posting that resembles how the book would start...
Everyone has a story. It begins in the beginning, and it ends in the end. There is an alpha, and there is an omega. What lies in between the beginning and the end is just what it is - a story. Now, here is the secret- what lies within that story is a multi-colored rose, a flower that is red, which can theoretically also be blue or yellow, depending on the perspective that the light reflecting off the rose translates to in the brain. Look to the birds and the bees- do they see the rose that we see? A simple story can be as thorny as a rose- the story, as the rose is seen from afar, does not reveal anything, yet up close, it is remote from simplicity as can be. Watch out for the thorns, they tell us - so we pretend they are not even there. There, something so complex as a rose becomes as simple as a symbolic metaphor.
To everyone else, a person with a story is just that, another person's story. We all have our own images, our projections, our artificial ideas to think about as we attempt to fit into society's mainstream image. In our own self assessment, we see how complicated our story truly is. And the most devastating thing- we are the only ones who know the real story on this earth.
Here's food for thought: so, who's up for dessert? When you're choosing what to eat, do you really know what you want to eat, or are you just seeking for something that will conjure thoughts of a delightful story, in which you savor the dessert in your thoughts, only to have something less when you finally get the real thing?
